The limits in plex server are there to tell the transcoded what to target for quality. It’ll direct play everything ignoring anything you have set for bandwidth limits. Does the Infuse client use a different outgoing port than the Plex client to connect to the plex server? One which in my case is not blocked by my work’s wifi? How does this work? It’s pretty much made the Plex client redundant. The Infuse client on the other hand direct plays at 20Mbps and is as smooth as silk with no buffering. You will notice both are indirect connections but the Plex client is throttled to 2Mbps and is therefore forced to transcode at the server. Once the transcode gets ahead, the Server is able to throttle down and take a short break before it needs to do another small chunk of transcoding. What that means is that your Plex Media Server is able to perform the transcode faster than is necessary. (Background transcodes) Intro detection / Video preview generation / Optimizer tasks were excessively throttled when Disable video stream transcoding was. The second pic shows Infuse on the left and the Plex client on the right when both are connected to my work wifi. If you see that a transcode is reported as throttled, that’s actually a positive indication. The first pic shows direct Play on a direct connection on my Mobile phones Hotspot. How is this? How does Infuse circumvent the 2Mbps throttle? I’ve attached a couple of pics. but my friends WAN remote streams are limited/throttled.

What’s weird but at the same time bloody brilliant is that although indirect connections to Plex - whereby the client connects to Plex.TV which then connects to the Plex Server like a relay - are limited to 2Mbps, if I use the Infuse app on my iPad Pro the connection has no limit! It shows up in my Plex dashboard as an indirect connection but direct playing both video and audio at 20Mbps. I have 20mb/s upload and a decent i-7 4790T processing PC to transcode so they werent the.

It must be blocked at work as I can connect to my mobile phone hotspot and get a direct connection. Transcoding 4K content is a very intensive process and will require a powerful computer running Plex Media Server. In terms of price/performance, the Best GPU for Plex transcoding is the EVGA. So I have an issue where when connected to the wifi network at work I am unable to obtain a direct connection to my Plex server at home.
